Question for Nico Hoffmann

Nico,

Some time ago you posted two pictures of the location of the BC relay box;

The pics show two metal brackets where the relay box and chime holder is fastened with two plate nuts. I'm unable to look for myself at the moment, my question is: are these brackets already present in the car or do I have to get them seperately? I can't find them on my ETK.

Hello Yogi,

you helped me with the part numbers of the code-plug on the backside of the BC.
Unfortunatly I read differend numbers here. The Plug says:
6 3 Typ
1375 812.9

Is this a plug for a M20 model? And if it is the wrong one, what costs a new correct one at the dealer?

It seems that i have one of the first BC2s produced, Production date is 1.85 for the plug and 12.84 for the rest of the unit! <img src=http://www.need4speed.at//ubb6/graemlins/drink.gif alt=drink>

Hello Marco.

This is strange, I remember you wrote your BC came out of an 535i? The plug you have is for an M635csi and an M5 with Kat. I'm afraid it's the wrong plug. You need to order the 1 375 818 plug, part number 65 81 1 375 818. They are 30 Euro ex tax at your dealer.

It's an early BCII indeed, they switched from the first BC (with the LED's next to the buttons) to the second in September 1984.

The metal brackets come with the black plastic holder. I. e.
they are only present in cars with onbord computer or alarm
system. Maybe also in cars with that small outside temperature
display, but I am not sure.

Well, I'm glad I asked, I want to fit the system in the next week or so. I thought I had everything but I was unsure of those brackets. I think I will have some difficulty finding them, my regular junkyard has E28's on a regular basis but unfortunately almost never one with a BC....I guess if I really can't find them I could make them myself, they're pretty simple.

Hi Yogi!

The two metal brackets which fix the relay box of the bordcomputer are no standard. You have to add them yourself when placing a BC in your BMW later. I have an 525e of 1985 and have placed a BC into my Cockpit in later years, too, and i had to add them.
But i have the BC of a M535i of 1987, and i don't know if the part number of my code plug on the Backside of the BC is correct, do you know the correct one?
